Four people were killed and more than a dozen injured in multiple shootings on Halloween night in the Deep Ellum entertainment and arts district of Dallas, police said.
The shootings occurred at three separate locations at different times and detectives are working to determine if the shootings are linked, Dallas Police Chief Daniel C. Comeaux at a Sunday morning, Nov. 1, news conference.
Four people were dead and 15 were injured, though the number of injuries could increase because some people were taken to hospitals in private vehicles, Comeaux said.

“This is completely unacceptable for it to take place in Dallas and we’re going to do everything we need to do to get everyone in custody that is responsible for this,” Comeaux said.
Some persons have been detained and detectives are trying to determine their roles at what the Comeaux described as a chaotic situation.
“We really want to put this puzzle together,” Comeaux said, adding that investigators are dealing with “a really big scene” that is spread out.
The gun violence occurred at different times and locations, according to Dallas Police Department news release:
about 12:20 a.m. Sunday in the 2600 block of Elm Street.1:05 a.m. in the 2600 block of Main Street.1:35 a.m. in the 200 block of South Crowdus Street.
Dallas police responded quickly as the situation unfolded and already had assigned extra officers to Deep Ellum because of the Halloween holiday.
“We knew it was Saturday night. We knew it was Halloween. So, we were staffed properly,” Comeaux said.
