LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The West Texas State Veterans Cemetery, originally expected to open on December 12th, will have its opening delayed “due to construction delays beyond our control.”
Organizers with the Texas Veterans Land Board made the announcement on Thursday afternoon, saying they are “working diligently with our contractors to address the delays” and that they “look forward to serving over 21,000 Veterans and their families as soon as possible.”
John Kelley with the TVLB acknowledged the effort required when the original date was announced back in August, saying “It’s exciting to know it’s coming soon, but on the other side of that sword is oh my god we got a lot left to do.”
We’ll continue to update this story as we learn more.
