LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Another day of record heat in Lubbock with an afternoon high surpassing the previous record of 82 degrees, set in 1973. Today’s new record was 89 degrees.
We will likely see more record high temps Friday with afternoon readings of 88 degrees both Friday and Saturday.

Temperatures will fall slightly on Sunday, to near 80 degrees. That will still be about 15 degrees above normal for mid-November. The nighttime lows will remain chilly with temps around the low to mid 40s.
Skies will remain mostly sunny through the weekend with a few clouds, but no precipitation for either Saturday or Sunday.

Winds may be a little breezy Saturday and Sunday, but only in the 15 to 25 mph range.
However, next week there is a chance for some showers and may storms in the area by late Wednesday and continue into the weekend. The afternoon temperatures will also fall to the low 60s, maybe 50s over the region by Thursday and Friday.
