For more than a decade, MELT Ice Creams has been spreading happiness one cone at a time — from its humble beginnings in a bright yellow Fort Worth shop to a full-fledged “Joy Factory” that’s become a North Texas institution. Now, founder Kari Crowe Seher and her cheerful crew are setting up shop in Grapevine, marking a long-awaited expansion into the mid-cities.
The new mini MELT — tucked inside Chicken N Pickle at 4600 Merlot Ave. — might be the company’s smallest location yet, but it’s brimming with character. The scoop counter sits just steps away from a brickyard of lawn games, patio seating, and two outdoor pickleball courts — a playground for grownups and kids alike. Whether you’re chasing a backhand volley or just chasing your kids across the patio, MELT’s signature ice creams, cones, shakes, sammies, and pops are ready to deliver a little sweetness between serves.
To mark the occasion, MELT and Chicken N Pickle are teaming up for a “Pickle & Chill” Grand Opening Party on Saturday, October 18, from 5–9 p.m. Expect open pickleball play on two courts, “Pickle & Chill” prize raffles, spin-to-win giveaways, and plenty of frozen fun.
Crowe Seher first opened MELT in 2014 after realizing that Fort Worth was missing a neighborhood spot where people could slow down and savor the simple joy of ice cream. She and her team began churning small batches of inventive flavors — from Peanut Butter Explosion to Loaded Cookie Dough, all made by hand. Over the years, MELT has become a go-to destination for locals seeking something sweet and real, with lines often spilling onto Magnolia Avenue or downtown Fort Worth on warm Texas nights. Shoot, MELT even makes ice cream for your fur babies.
Now, Grapevine gets a taste of that same handcrafted happiness — just in time for fall. Expect seasonal scoops like Cookie Butter and Pumpkin Praline, best enjoyed after a spirited pickleball match or during a lazy Sunday afternoon on the patio.
“Our goal has always been for MELT to be known as the happiest ice cream destination in DFW,” Kari said in a statement. “To be partnering with Chicken and Pickle for this new outpost is a perfect pairing. We can’t wait to bring premium ice cream to Grapevine and share more joyful experiences with a greater community!”
