November Record Possible

  • November 14, 2025

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Lubbock today will make a run at its record high temperature for the month of November. That is 90°, set November 9, 2006. Up until now, it is also the latest in the year occurrence of 90°F.

The high pressure area I mentioned here yesterday is now centered nearly over the KCBD/FOX34 viewing area. Moving slowly eastward, it again will contribute to record warmth this weekend.

Along with the well above average temperatures, West Texas and eastern New Mexico will remain dry into at least early next week. The high pressure will continue to hold wind speeds down through the weekend.

Next week, as the high shifts east, temperatures will moderate. Highs eventually will drop to near average by late in the week. About that time we have our next chance of rain in our forecast.

In addition to unusually very warm for the time of year, today will be sunny with a slight breeze. Winds today, westerly, will range from and 10 to 15 mph from late morning through late afternoon.

Lubbock’s record high for today, November 14, is 85° (in 1933). Lubbock’s record high for the month is 90°, set November 9, 2006.

The sun, breeze, warmth, and the dry vegetation in the area will create a slightly elevated grassland fire danger this afternoon. Be cautious if you will be involved in outdoor activities which may involve open flames, generate extreme heat, or create sparks.

More of the same tomorrow with another record high forecast under a sunny sky. Winds generally light, up to around 10 to 12 mph at times.

Current Meteor Showers

The Taurids and Leonids showers are underway. The Taurids continues through December 10, though peaked the last two nights. The Leonids is active through the end of the month, peaking November 16-17 (plus the moon will only be a sliver, for a darker sky and better viewing).
