The suspect who allegedly attacked a jogger with a hammer in Plano is now charged with kidnapping.

Sergio Noe De Nova Duarte, a 17-year-old Plano resident, allegedly used a hammer to assault a woman jogging in Bob Woodruff Park on November 13, according to the Plano Police Department. Now, he is charged with felony “aggravated kidnapping, bodily injury.”

Duarte is being held at the Collin County Detention Facility, according to the department. The Crimes Against Persons Unit is investigating the assault.

Plano police responded to an assault near 2300 Shiloh Road around 5 p.m. on November 13, according to the department. 

“The female victim was jogging in Bob Woodruff Park when she was attacked by an unknown male who used a hammer to strike the victim,” the department posted

The suspect – now identified as Duarte – fled the scene. Meanwhile, Plano Fire-Rescue brought the victim to a local hospital. 

That night, Plano police announced they had captured the suspect. 

“Due to the arrest of the suspect, there are no public safety concerns,” department officials said at the time. 

The Dallas Express reached out to Plano police, but the department declined to release additional information on the case due to the ongoing investigation.
