A hit-and-run 18-wheeler caused a fatal rollover crash last month on the Dallas North Tollway, killing a 47-year-old driver.
PLANO, Texas — State authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver of an 18-wheeler involved in a deadly hit-and-run crash last month on the Dallas North Tollway.
The crash happened at about 6:30 a.m. on Oct. 21 in the northbound lanes near Spring Creek Parkway in Plano, according to the Department of Public Safety (DPS).
Investigators say a white truck towing a white dump trailer made an unsafe lane change, striking a Honda Civic traveling alongside it. The impact forced the Honda into a concrete wall, causing it to overturn. Moments later, a Ram 1500 and a Toyota Camry collided with the overturned Honda. The driver of the 18-wheeler did not stop and continued northbound.
The driver of the Honda, 47-year-old Dallas resident Juan Quiroz, died at the scene, DPS said.
DPS officials believe the 18-wheeler may have noticeable damage to the right side of its front bumper and/or the front right fender. They are urging anyone who may have seen the crash, recognizes the vehicle, or has information about the driver to come forward.
North Texas Crime Stoppers is offering up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the individual responsible. Tips can be submitted anonymously by calling 877-373-8477 or by filing a report through the North Texas Crime Stoppers website.
