BATON ROUGE, La. – Ella Remy netted the first NCAA Tournament goal in HCU program history as the Huskies dropped a 4-1 decision to LSU on Friday night at the LSU Soccer Complex in the first round of the postseason.

The Tigers (14-5-4) tested HCU (12-9-2) goalkeeper Emmy McKeon early with the sophomore coming up with a pair of stops in the first six minutes. LSU broke the tie in the 26th minute when freshman Sariyah Bailey snuck a shot past McKeon from a tough angle to make it a 1-0 game. Alexia Murillo had the Huskies’ lone shot attempt on goal from a free kick but HCU was unable to find the goal in the half, entering the break trailing by one.

Gabbi Ceballos doubled the LSU total less than five minutes into the second half. Remy scored her fifth goal of the year when the pressed the Tigers and collected a miscue in front of the goal, neatly blasting one into the net with her right foot to cut the HCU deficit in half. The Huskies began gaining longer stretches of possession, getting another shot attempt and earning a corner kick but the Tigers put the match away with a pair of goal in the span of 17 seconds with about 10 minutes left to play.

Remy scored her five goals over the last seven games of the season for the Huskies and finishes the year tied for the team lead. McKeon finished the night with six saves and ended the season with 90 saves for the sixth-highest total in a single season at HCU.
