Texas Longhorns basketball has landed another major recruiting win. Austin native Coleman Elkins committed to the Longhorns on Saturday, giving Texas much-needed depth at center. While his college debut is still months away, Elkins is the latest player to join what is rounding out to be a talented 2026 class.Â
Although Coleman is not ranked, he brings an impressive resume to the table. During his junior season with St. Andrew’s, the newest Longhorn averaged 15 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. He will be playing at Blair Academy for his senior season and looking to build on his success. Last year, Elkins showed that he can be a reliable scoring option while being a force in the paint.Â
When the talented center steps on campus, he will be part of what is shaping up to be an exciting future in Austin. The 2026 class also includes four-star recruits Bo Ogden and Joe Sterling. With more to fill, the Longhorns are far from down when it comes to adding to their roster. They have also made offers to Dylan Mingo, Tyran Stokes, and Austin Goosby.Â
With Elkins now in the mix, the Longhorns have shown that, despite a down 2024-2025 campaign, they are still a popular destination. Elkins also received offers from Indiana State, Le Moyne, Lehigh, Maine, and Northeastern. That list could have continued to grow the longer he was on the market.Â
Over the next few months, the Longhorns will be a program to watch as they continue to add depth. They are deep at good and now have at least one big man to rely on. That will allow head coach Sean Miller to focus on other parts of the roster. He has shown so far that he is willing to do what it takes to improve his team.Â
