Harley, who is second on the team in ice time at nearly 23 minutes per game and who plays in all situations, has been labeled a game-time decision for the last few games and was finally scratched for Saturday’s home game against Philadelphia. He emerged as an elite defenseman last year in teammate Miro Heiskanen’s absence, garnering Norris Trophy consideration following a 16-goal, 50-point season.

Harley has a goal and nine assists in 18 games this season, but is a minus-7. The Stars have been outscored 15-9 at five-on-five with Harley on the ice this season, and he’s been playing to a 43.74-percent expected goals share, according to Natural Stat Trick.

Harley signed an 8-year, $10.59 million AAV contract extension on Oct. 28 and has been considered to have a strong case to crack Team Canada’s roster at the 2026 Milan-Cortina Olympics.

Dallas, which has reached the Western Conference final in each of the last three seasons, entered Saturday’s game with an 11-4-3 record, second-best in the Western Conference behind Colorado.
