LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – For the Monterey Plainsmen (7-4), their second trip this year to El Paso was much more memorable than the first one. On Friday night, they secured a spot in the area round with a 50-32 comeback win over El Paso Americas.
The Trail Blazers held a 29-14 lead after the Plainsmen had four turnovers in the second quarter- two of which became a ‘scoop & score’. From that point, Monterey outscored Americas 36-3.
With a 36-32 lead in the fourth quarter, Monterey QB Jonah Reed powered his way in for the final two scores for the night. Up next for the Plainsmen will be 10-1 Arlington Heights.
Before they gear up for the next playoff game, they will be at the KCBD studios Sunday, featured as this week’s “End Zone Team of the Week”. Their interview will air after the “Sunday Night Football” game between the Detroit Lions and Philadelphia Eagles.
