An El Paso man died after a crash involving a semitruck and a pickup truck that was stopped on Interstate 10 near Anthony, Texas, last week, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said.

Natanael Mejia, 33, died at a hospital from injuries he suffered on Thursday night, Nov. 13, on the westbound lanes of I-10 near mile marker zero, stated a news release issued Saturday by sheriff’s spokeswoman Priscilla I. Contreras.

Shortly after 11 p.m. Thursday, Mejia was driving a Chevrolet pickup truck that was seen weaving on the roadway before stopping in one of the lanes of traffic on the highway for unknown reasons, the Sheriff’s Office reported.

A westbound 18-wheeler was unable to stop in time and ran into the back of the stopped truck. Mejia was transported to a hospital, where he later died, sheriff’s officials said.
An investigation by sheriff’s traffic investigators continues.
