EL PASO, Tx., November 17, 2025: In an update to a story we brought you this morning about today’s city council meeting seeking to add a monthly fee to El Paso’s homeowners to cover street repairs.

As soon as the item came up for discussion, City Representative Lily Limón moved to delete the time. City Representative Art Fierro seconded the motion. The motion to delete the traffic fee passed five to three, with representatives Chris Canales, Diana Maldonado-Rocha and Josh Acevedo voting against deleting the item.

The street fee sought to charge El Paso homeowners from $4.40 to $11.37 per month. However, Limón’s motion deleted the item. Unless city council brings it back for discussion at a future item, the street fee will not be voted by council.

Previously, Limón told us that it is “unconscionable to impose a tax disguised as fee on our homeowners,” adding she could not support it.
