A new study found that El Paso is one of the easiest cities to find a rental for less than $1,000.
The study, conducted by Zillow researchers, was published in The New York Times on Nov. 13 and lists the Sun City as one of the metros (among the 100 largest in the United States) with the highest share of rentals for under $1,000 a month.
El Paso has a 39% share of available rental apartments priced under $1,000, according to the Zillow study.
Wichita, Kansas, had the highest share of apartment listings with monthly rent under $1,000 at 54%, followed by McAllen, Texas, at 51% and Little Rock, Arkansas, at 49%.
At the bottom of the list are Boston, Miami, Washington D.C., North Port, Florida, Charleston, South Carolina and Cape Coral, Florida — all with 1.7% or fewer listings costing less than $1,000.
The Zillow study comes as El Paso was ranked among the most affordable places to live in the United States in 2025, according to a February report by the data-driven Voronoi app. The study analyzed the costs of 10 common bills across the 50 largest cities in America. The costs included utilities, mortgage and rent payments, health insurance, alarm systems and more.
El Paso was named the most affordable city in Texas and ranked fourth among the most affordable cities in the country, trailing Midwest cities Detroit, Cleveland and Dayton. According to the study, El Pasoans spend an average of $1,784 a month on those 10 bills.
