LUBBOCK, Texas — Hot Diggity Dogs and Burgers is a newer restaurant in Lubbock that is now offering Bitcoin as a way to pay for your food.
This restaurant is located inside The Culinary Co-Op near 54th and Frankford. The owner, Nicholus Curell, said owning a restaurant has always been a dream of his.
“We’ve been working inside the food industry for over 30 years…its been a dream of ours to open up a restaurant of our own,” Curell said.

The menu features a variety of burgers, hotdogs and fries, and this week something new. Customers are now able to pay for their meals using Bitcoin.
“With the Bitcoin it was just to have another option available for customers to utilize. It’s something that’s been talked about nationwide,” Curell said.
With the value of Bitcoin constantly changing, depending on the moment, a Bitcoin payment may actually be cheaper than traditional payment options.
“Let’s say you come to Hot Diggity Dogs and you order a meal for $10…whatever the price is at that moment is what that’s going to translate and calculate for,” Curell said.

Making this move with such a brand-new business is a bit of a risky move, but it’s a risk he said they are willing to make.
“If everybody was paying with the Bitcoin then maybe it would be a big risk…just opening this up for the few utilizing it…it’s a risk that we’re willing to take on,” Curell said.
