FAIRVIEW, Ala. – The Good Hope Lady Raiders traveled to take on the Fairview Lady Aggies in an early county matchup on Monday night. After a close first quarter, Good Hope quickly broke the game wide open in the second, outscoring Fairview, 17-6, and they ended up defeating the Lady Aggies, 53-25.
Maci Gregory knocked down a short jumper to put Fairview on the scoreboard first, but a rebound and putback on the other end by Ella Davis tied the game up at two. Sophie Konrad drilled a pair of threes to give Good Hope an 8-5 lead. Whitney Quick scored through a foul and completed the three-point play at the line to tie things up at eight with a little over five minutes to go in the opening period. A rebound and putback by Lucie Adams gave the Lady Raiders a 10-8 lead late in the first, and a late basket by Lexi Marshall made it 13-9 going into the second period.
A basket in the paint by Adams gave Good Hope a 15-9 lead early in the second, then Konrad scored five straight points to widen their lead to 20-9. Quick stopped the bleeding with a basket in the paint to cut the Lady Aggie deficit to nine at 20-11. Ella Gossett drilled a pair from the line, then Konrad got the steal and laid it up and in to make it 24-11. Konrad then added a floater, and Davis put in a basket down low to stretch the Lady Raider lead to 28-11. Baskets by Mali Gregory and Quick made it a 30-15 game at the half.
Good Hope continued to add on to their lead in the third quarter. Marshall drained a trey from the left wing to make it 33-15. Kailyn Redding put in a driving layup to cut it to 34-17, but Davis, Marshall, and Gossett each knocked down a shot to give the Lady Raiders a 40-17 lead. A rebound and putback by Gabby Richter was later followed by a three from Gossett, as they took a 45-18 lead into the final quarter.
Adams’ three made it 48-18 early in the fourth, and it was a running clock for the rest of the game. Kensli Redding drained a three on the other end to cut it to 48-21, but a pair of free throws by Davis and another trey by Adams helped put the finishing touches on a 53-25 win for the Lady Raiders.
Konrad led the way for Good Hope (4-0) with 16 points. Adams put in 12 points. Davis ended up with 10 points, and Gossett chipped in with eight points. For Fairview (1-1), Quick finished with 10 points.
The Lady Raiders will take a road trip over to Albertville next week, and they will face off against Mountain Brook next Monday and follow that up with a meeting against Moody next Tuesday. Fairview will travel to take on Vinemont Tuesday.
