Last week was the first week of the early signing period for high school seniors across the nation.

Student-athletes from Plano East, Sachse, Wylie and Wylie East put pen to paper and signed a National Letter of Intent with their college of choice, where they will compete in athletics and pursue their academic goals.

Less than 24 hours after outside hitter Simone Heard and senior setter Emma Reeves helped lead the Plano East volleyball team to the fourth round of the playoffs for the first time since 2008, both signed with their colleges. Heard will play for Georgia Tech, while Reeves is bound for Trinity University.

Heard and Reeves were two of the five Plano East seniors that signed last Wednesday.

Reagan Noel and Courtney Shults, who helped lead the Plano East girls cross-country team to their first district title since 2017, signed with Dallas Baptist University and Bethel College, respectively. Chandler Israel will run cross-country for Georgia Southwestern State University.
