PLANO, Texas — A 57-year-old Plano man has been sentenced to more than 16 years in federal prison for child exploitation violations, according to Acting U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs. Ashley Blaine Brooks pleaded guilty to one count of receiving child pornography and received a 200-month sentence from U.S. District Judge Robert W. Schroeder III on October 21, 2025.

Brooks, a registered sex offender residing in Plano, was discovered trading child pornography during a sex offender registry compliance check, stated the Plano Police Department. Detectives found that Brooks used his computer equipment, the Internet, and a peer-to-peer file-sharing platform to facilitate the illegal activity.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. The initiative is led by U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and the Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), aiming to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals exploiting children online, as well as to identify and rescue victims.

The investigation was conducted by the Plano Police Department and the FBI, with prosecution by Assistant U.S. Attorney Marisa Miller. For more information about Project Safe Childhood, visit www.justice.gov/psc.
