Quinnen Williams wasted no time making an impact in his Dallas Cowboys debut.

The defensive tackle had a pivotal role in Dallas’ 33-16 win Monday night in Las Vegas, posting five quarterback hits, four tackles, 1.5 sacks and a tackle for loss. Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones was among the fans excited by what Williams displayed at Allegiant Stadium.

“I was zeroed in on him early and I wanted to see how the Raider offensive line was handling him. It kind of caused you to sit back in your seat and smile a little bit. He was so dominant,” Jones told 105.3 The Fan (KRLD-FM) on Tuesday. “I have not, again, looked at the film on the way in, but I’m telling you, if we can get those kinds of plays and people have to adjust their blocking schemes for him, then you obviously get some advantages in other parts of your defense.

“We just haven’t had pressure like that — pass pressure. When you can be sound against that run and then get some pressure, too, and it’s coming from a bad spot for the quarterback, up the middle. We haven’t had that.”

Williams posted his first sack in a Dallas uniform in the second quarter of Monday night’s game. While Williams celebrated on the field, the ESPN broadcast shifted focus toward a smiling Jones up in a suite.

Williams wasn’t the only defensive player to capture Jones’ attention. The Cowboys owner said he liked what he saw from returning defenders like DeMarvion Overshown and Malik Hooker.

Jones also emphasized the importance of establishing a strong interior pass rushing presence.

“I think that it’s harder. You can vary ways to get some space pressure. You can vary that and you can use guys that are not necessarily prototypes for size out there to get some pressure,” Jones said. “But in the middle, it takes not only strength and size, in my mind, but it also takes that unique big guy that can really tie up two blockers and give a chance to touch that quarterback. Those are hard to find.”
