HOUSTON – Houston Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a person of interest connected to the stabbing death of 16-year-old Franklin Torres-Concho. His body was found in September near the Katy Freeway-West Interstate Highway 10 service road.
Detectives say the man seen with Franklin before his death is not currently a suspect but may have crucial information about the case. Authorities hope speaking with him will shed light on the circumstances surrounding the teen’s murder.
Surveillance photos released by HPD show the man, who was seen inside a convenience store and using public transportation near the area where Franklin frequented. It is unclear if the two knew each other or where exactly they were together.
Franklin was stabbed multiple times on September 29th, but his body was not discovered until the following day in a vacant lot after officers got a call about a person down.
Franklin was known to spend time near Shepherd Drive, Yale Street, West 11th Street, and Washington Avenue.
The man has not been charged with any crime, but police urge anyone with information on the identity of the person of interest, or in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or speak anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS. There is an up to $5,000 reward for information that can lead to an arrest.
