Traveling Nanas

Sandy and Ellie may be grandmothers in their 80s, but they’re having a ball cavorting around the world, making new friends along the way. They’ll visit The Store in Lake Highlands this Saturday to sign their new book “Here We Go — Lessons for Living Fearlessly from Two Traveling Nanas.”

Eleanor Hamby and Sandra Hazelip met in Abilene after becoming empty nesters and then widows, and they fell into fame when they traveled around the world together in 80 days. From the dusty Syrian desert to the lush woodlands of Zambia to the icy shores of Antarctica, the women’s adventures have transformed their outlooks and deepened their friendship. They shared their stories on social media, and their enthusiasm for life proved contagious.

The Traveling Nanas have been featured on numerous morning shows. You can catch them in person from noon to 2 p.m. Nov. 22 at The Store as they host a book intro, reading sample and signing.

The Store in Lake Highlands is at 9850 Walnut Hill.
