The crash was reported shortly before 10 a.m. at the intersection of South Cooper Street and the Interstate 20 frontage road, according to a police news release.
ARLINGTON, Texas — An Arlington police officer and another driver were hospitalized after a crash Friday morning, officials said.
The crash happened at approximately 9:50 a.m. at the intersection of South Cooper Street and the Interstate 20 frontage road, according to police. The Arlington Police Department (APD) said a patrol officer conducting traffic enforcement in the area was traveling southbound along South Cooper Street and saw a motorcycle driver who was lane splitting and making unsafe lane changes. The motorcyclist turned onto the eastbound I-20 frontage road.
As the officer attempted to turn left from South Cooper Street onto the frontage road, he collided with a Toyota Camry that was traveling northbound along South Cooper Street.
The impact caused the officer’s SUV to crash into a light pole, and the other vehicle went into an embankment. Both drivers were taken to area hospitals for treatment, police said. Their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, according to police.
There were no other occupants in either vehicle, police said.
