A child was killed after a car was hit by a Trinity Railway Express train in Fort Worth.

According to a Fort Worth police spokesperson, police were called at about 3:45 p.m. Wednesday to the intersection of Elliot Reeder Road and Colony Court. At the scene, police found the car hit by the train.

Initial information indicates the car, carrying an adult and a child, attempted to drive around an activated train barricade and was then hit by the train. The child was pronounced dead at the scene while the adult was taken to the hospital, police said.

The adult was in an unknown condition as of about 5:30 p.m. The age of the juvenile was not released.
