A Greater Cincinnati superintendent is preparing to move to a different state next year.The Eanes Independent School District in Austin, Texas announced that Kirk Koennecke is the only finalist for their superintendent position.According to the district’s website, while a contract can’t be signed until December, Koennecke himself wrote in a statement that he is “thrilled” to join the district.“I am thrilled to join this great school district, and to serve the amazing students, families, educators and the broader community of Eanes ISD,” Koennecke’s statement says. “I am deeply honored and humbled the Board of Trustees has selected me to lead the finest public schools in Texas, and one of the elite districts in America.”The Eanes ISD School Board voted unanimously, 7-0, to make Koennecke the district’s next superintendent.Indian Hill says the Board of Education “anticipates” appointing Dr. Melissa Stewart to serve as interim. That will be voted on officially during the December board meeting.“We thank Superintendent Koennecke for his exceptional leadership over the past seven years,” Board President Niki Singh said in a statement. “His dedication to innovation, excellence, and the students of Indian Hill has strengthened our district and enriched our community. We move forward with complete confidence that the excellent work underway for our students will continue uninterrupted.”
