District officials say they should have enough food to cover the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, thanks to the community.
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Neighbors helping neighbors in Ingleside, just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.
As residents filled the shelves at the Ingleside School District’s food pantry. The pantry usually serves about 15 families within the district twice a month.Â
Principal at Ingleside Primary School John D’Orazio said, ” I can’t be any prouder of the district. This is something we’ve been working on for a few years now and we reached out and literally everybody in the district responded.”
However, with snap benefits delayed, administrators tell us that twice the number of families showed up, completely depleting supplies. The district called on the community —and they responded with almost 200 turkeys.
Mindy Petty, Assistant Principal adds, ” I love it that it’s a community and school, family – joint effort. A lot of times our students and families are the donors and then they are also the recipients  so it’s just great to work together to make sure nobody’s hungry.”
