Estacado braces for unbeaten Brock in area round

  • November 21, 2025

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The Estacado Matadors (8-3) are no stranger to elite competition. They’ve already faced Tuscola Jim Ned, West Plains, and Lubbock-Cooper Liberty- all of which have a 10-1 record. Come Friday night, they take on the unbeaten No. 4 Brock Eagles.

“We’re feeling ready. We feel pretty good. We know what we’re up against. We played them last year and we’re ready to play,” said Estacado head coach Eric Ward. “It has been a long season, but we’re feeling good. We are healthy. We’re ready to go out there and showcase what we can do.”

In last week’s 31-17 comeback win over Fort Stockton, WR/RB Cedric Ross returned two kickoffs for touchdowns. Another astonishing stat is the ten pancake blocks registered by OT Vershaunndrick Smith.

“I think the ceiling has still not have been reached. I think we still have more we can do. We just got to take care of the ball and go out there and play mistake-free football the best way we can and just take care of the time of possession.”

Kickoff set for 7 p.m. at San Angelo Stadium.
