LUBBOCK, Texas (November 19, 2025) – Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Tyree Gailes has announced the 2026 indoor and outdoor track & field schedules, which will open on January 16th.

The Chaps and Lady Chaps have a total of seven indoor meets and 11 outdoor meets currently slated to comprise their spring.

They will open the indoor season in Lubbock, competing at the Corky Classic at Texas Tech Jan. 16-17. LCU will compete in their home city twice more during the regular season, including Jan. 23 at the Red Raider Invite and Feb. 13-14 for the Jarvis Scott Invite.

Only two other regular season meets are on the schedule, with both taking place in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Collegiate Invitational will take place on Jan. 23-24 and the New Mexico Team Open is Jan. 30-31st.

Those two regular season meets will be good prep for the Lone Star Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, which will be hosted in the same venue in Albuquerque on Feb. 27-28.

Qualifiers will advance to the NCAA Indoor Division II National Championships on March 13-14 in Virginia Beach, Florida.

Just a week later, the teams will open outdoor season with competition in Canyon at the West Texas Relays on March 20-21.

March 27-28 is one of the two chances to see the Lady Chaps and Chaps in Lubbock, as they compete in the Masked Rider Open at Texas Tech. They will also participate in the Corky Classic on May 1-2, which will wrap up the regular season.

The Lone Star Conference Outdoor Championships will be in Canyon this year on May 7-9 at the WTAMU Track & Field Complex.

Qualifiers will compete in the NCAA Division II National Championships on May 21-23 at Francis G. Welch Stadium in Emporia, Kansas, to wrap up track and field season.
