United Supermarkets to eliminate 126 jobs at Lubbock headquarters

  • November 21, 2025

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – United Supermarkets plans to eliminate 126 positions at its main office in Lubbock beginning Jan. 19, according to a WARN notice filed with the Texas Workforce Commission.

The company made the filing Monday. Federal law requires employers to give 60 days notice to employees and certain government agencies when mass layoffs are planned.

According to a Houston Chronicle report, the move will affect director roles, marketing and support desk positions. The company will try to place affected employees in other positions as part of a restructuring process.

As of last fiscal year, the city of Lubbock ranked United Supermarkets as one of the top 10 employers in the city with about 3,500 employees.
