LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Rebeca Gonzales announced her candidacy for Lubbock County Clerk in the upcoming 2026 Republican Primary election.
On Thursday, current County Clerk Kelly Pinion announced she will not seek reelection after nearly 20 years of service.
Gonzales has served in the Lubbock County Clerk’s office since January 2018 as Deputy Clerk in the Vitals Department. She later transitioned to the Criminal Department in February 2019.
“If elected, I will work closely with my staff to ensure a seamless transition in leadership and maintain the consistency of our day-to-day operations,” Gonzales said. “I am passionate about the work that is required require of our office, and I look forward to continuing to provide the exceptional service that the citizens of Lubbock County deserve.”
Gonzales is a lifelong Lubbock County resident and graduate of Lubbock High School.
