Tamez said a 22-year-old man was arrested today for the murder of 14-year-old Shawn Sanchez on Monday afternoon. This is the 3rd arrest in the case this week.
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Robstown police have made a third arrest in the shooting death of a 14-year-old boy outside the Figueroa Square Apartments, Chief Mike Tamez confirmed.

Tamez said members of the department’s Criminal Investigations Division and Organized Crime Unit, along with deputies from the Nueces County Precinct 5 Constable’s Office, arrested 22-year-old Dominic Guzman around 4 p.m. Friday. Guzman is the latest suspect taken into custody in the expanding case.
The first arrest came Wednesday night, when 18-year-old Elias Eric Rivera was booked into the Nueces County Jail on a first-degree murder charge. His bond was set at $750,000.
A second suspect, Salvador Hernandez, was arrested earlier this week on an aggravated assault charge. Tamez said Hernandez is also tied to the shooting, though investigators have not released details about his exact role.
Monday’s fatal shooting happened around 3:50 p.m., when officers responded to a call of a male who had been shot outside the Figueroa Square Apartments. The victim, identified by the Nueces County Medical Examiner as 14-year-old Shawn Sanchez, was found dead at the scene. His family has been notified.
Tamez previously told 3NEWS that early evidence showed the shooting “was not a random act of violence.” He said investigators received Ring camera footage and citizen reports that helped advance the case.
Police also believe the Monday shooting and another shooting last Sunday are related, with Tamez citing money as a possible motive linking the two incidents.
The Texas Department of Public Safety continues to assist Robstown police in the investigation.
Tamez said more arrests are expected as the case develops.
