Week 2 of the 2025 Texas high school state football playoffs started Thursday night in the Austin area with Vandegrift’s 37-7 win over San Antonio Brandeis in San Marcos, a Class 6A Division II matchup that stretched near midnight because of two lightning delays. But the Vipers advanced to next week’s third round, as did the Wimberley Texans, who cruised past Robstown in Class 4A Division II.
Friday night brings a nearly full slate of the remaining teams around Central Texas, headlined by what should be some great matchups with Georgetown hosting Frisco Lone Star, Lake Travis and San Antonio Harlan in Seguin, Dripping Springs and San Antonio Harlan in San Antonio, Cedar Park and Frisco Wakeland in Hewitt and the Liberty Hill-Brenham game in Hutto.
