1 dead after Del Paso Heights shooting, police say

ONE PERSON IS IN THE HOSPITAL AFTER GETTING SHOT THIS AFTERNOON IN SACRAMENTO, EL PASO HEIGHTS NEIGHBORHOOD AUTHORITIES ARE NOW LOOKING FOR THE SUSPECT. THIS ALL HAPPENED ABOUT 245 ON HARRIS AVENUE NEAR RIO LINDA BOULEVARD. AUTHORITIES ARE NOW SPEAKING ABOUT WHAT’S HAPPENING. LET’S LISTEN IN SACRAMENTO PD AFTER 2:45 P.M., OFFICERS RESPONDED TO THE 900 BLOCK OF HARRIS AVENUE FOR REPORTS OF A SHOOTING. OUR OFFICERS DID ARRIVE ON SCENE AND LOCATE A MALE ADULT THAT HAD BEEN SHOT. OUR OFFICERS DID PERFORM LIFE SAVING MEASURES ON THAT VICTIM, AND HE WAS LATER TRANSPORTED TO AN AREA HOSPITAL BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT, AND UNFORTUNATELY, HE WAS PRONOUNCED DECEASED ON SCENE. EXCUSE ME, AT THE HOSPITAL, DUE TO THE CIRCUMSTANCES, OUR HOMICIDE DETECTIVES, OUR CSI TEAMS HAVE RESPONDED. THEY’RE GOING TO BE WORKING THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT AROUND THE CLOCK, LIKE THEY ALWAYS DO. IN ANY CASE, LIKE THIS TO TRY TO, YOU KNOW, PUT TOGETHER EXACTLY WHAT OCCURRED, WHAT LED UP TO THE SHOOTING. THIS INVESTIGATION IS SHOOTING IN DEL PASO HEIGHTS HAS TURNED FROM A SHOOTING INVESTIGATION INTO A HOMICIDE. THE PERSON WHO WAS SHOT WENT TO THE HOSPITAL WHERE THEY WERE PRONOUNCED DEAD, AND THEY DIDN’T HAVE A LOT OF INFORMATION. THEY HAD NO SUSPECT INFORMATION, NO MOTIVE INFORMATION. THEY JUST SAID THEY’RE GOING THROUGH EVIDENCE RIGHT NOW. BUT AGAIN, THAT PERSON AT FIRST REPORTED WAS SHOT AND INJURED. THAT PERSON ACTUALLY IS DEAD NOW. SO THIS IS A TOTALLY DIFFERENT INVESTIGATION THAT WILL BE HAPPENING. A man was shot and killed in Del Paso Heights on Friday afternoon, according to the Sacramento Police Department.

Police said the shooting happened just after 2:45 p.m. in the 900 block of Harris Avenue. Officers found the man with at least one gunshot wound and attempted lifesaving measures before taking him to a hospital, where he later died.

A homicide investigation is underway but there is no suspect information yet, police said. The identity of the man who was killed has not yet been released.
