For the 13th straight year, Texas Tech University has been named among the leaders in the Best for Vets 2025 Colleges rankings by Military Times.
Texas Tech’s No. 18 ranking in this year’s list is the second-highest in school history
and marks the third straight year Texas Tech has ranked in the top 5%. It comes from
a survey of 355 colleges and universities across the U.S. Texas Tech has appeared
on the Best for Vets rankings every year since 2013.
“This ranking reflects Texas Tech’s steadfast institutional commitment to support
the educational and professional journey of our military connected students,” said
Gracie Guerra, director of the Military & Veterans Programs (MVP) at Texas Tech. “Our leadership and dedicated faculty and staff are mission-ready
and will continue to diligently provide the strongest possible educational pathways
to ensure those who have served are valued and supported. I am proud to be part of
an institution whose culture is rooted in honoring those who have served.”
The Military Times conducts its annual survey of colleges throughout the U.S., evaluating
the quality of each institution’s military-specific resources and level of financial
assistance schools offer. Admissions, registration policies, human resources and other
factors are considered for the scoring rubric.
In 2024, Military Times introduced a deeper level of categorization in the scoring
to distinguish the different levels of educational support opportunities at each institution.
Those success metrics are compared against each other for all schools that offer those
levels of education (certificate, associate, bachelor’s, graduate).
Created in 2010, the Texas Tech MVP has been dedicated to helping veterans and their
families not only obtain a quality college education but achieve personal and professional
success. MVP assists individuals in transitioning from military to student life by
establishing educational benefits, encouraging campus and community engagement and
providing a positive student experience.
MVP has built its success on service, commitment, integrity and growth, offering transition
support, academic assistance, dedicated study spaces, career and networking opportunities,
veteran recognition at athletic events, and assisting with the establishing of military
education benefits.
