Multiple Dallas Police Department units rushed to NorthPark Mall on Friday evening after reports of a loud gunshot-type noise in the food court triggered panic among shoppers. The disturbance occurred around 7:15 p.m., prompting an emergency response to the 8600 block of North Central Expressway.

Dallas police confirmed that the incident was not a shooting, and no injuries have been reported. Officers now believe the loud bang may have been caused by dry ice placed inside a water bottle, creating an explosive sound that many mistook for gunfire.

“Buddy at the food court at @NorthParkCenter heard a bang and everyone started looking around. After a second bang, everybody ran,” one witness wrote on X.

Police say the situation remains active as officers secure the area. Information is still limited, and authorities will provide updates as the investigation develops.
