The long-awaited return of a longtime neighborhood meat market has been pushed back after the business was allegedly broken into and burgled, causing complications for the store’s ongoing construction.

Culebra Meat Market #4, one of Culebra Super Meat Market’s many San Antonio locations, has been under construction on Pinn Road for some time. On Wednesday, November 19, multiple individuals reportedly entered the business and stole an assortment of items from the property, according to a Facebook post penned by the San Antonio chain.

“Unfortunately, earlier today our Pinn Road location currently under remodel was broken into. Thieves stole material, machinery, equipment, and more – items meant to help us bring a fully improved store for the community to enjoy,” the Culebra Super Meat Market post said. “We are asking for the community’s support. If you have any information that can lead to the individuals responsible for this crime, please reach out to us. All tips will remain anonymous.”

Culebra Super Meat Market has been around in San Antonio since 1983, after its original owner, Ezequiel Ramirez, launched the first store with his family. The local chain maintains more than a dozen stores.

“To everyone eagerly waiting for our Pinn Road location to open, we sincerely apologize for this setback. We will recover, rebuild, and continue pushing forward. Our commitment to serving you remains strong, and we will open soon for you all,” the business said in its Facebook post.
