LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The rain was heavier over the northern and eastern parts of the area today, and even heavier north and east of our area. A few hundredths of an inch of rain fell around the central South Plains, with just a trace at the Lubbock airport.
Better 24-hour rain totals on the Texas Tech Mesonet include 0.61″ at Muleshoe to the northwest, 0.23″ at Denver City to the southwest and 0.78″ at Guthrie to the east.
A severe storm produced a gust of 60mph at Levelland this afternoon. That storm kicked out enough wind to drive this wall of dirt through Lubbock in the 2 p.m. hour. Here is the perspective from three of our cameras:

Our next rain chance arrives late Saturday night into Sunday. Like this round, not everyone will get good, soaking rain. But there could be some heavy downpours.
It does appear Sunday into Monday the heavier rain will be north and east of our area.
Next week stays dry and quiet Monday through Wednesday, though it could get a bit colder by Wednesday. Right now travel looks good around Thanksgiving across the region.
