COLLEGE STATION — Texas A&M football certainly did its part during Saturday’s slate of SEC scheduling that saw most of the conference play weaker opponents. The Aggies pummeled the Samford Bulldogs 48-0 at Kyle Field.

The Bulldogs tried a 38-yard field goal with 1:15 left, but the kick went wide left, preserving the shutout.

No. 3 Texas A&M improved to 11-0 on the season. The Aggies close out the regular season next Friday in Austin at No. 17 Texas.

A&M quarterback Marcel Reed was 10 of 15 for 120 yards and three touchdowns. He wasn’t asked to do much by way of quarterback runs because Amari Daniels rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown, the big one a 41-yard burst up the middle down to Samford’s 16-yard line; Daniels plunged in from 1 yard out two plays later for the 28-0 lead.

It was a quiet day on the receiving front. KC Concepcion had five catches to lead both teams, but for only 42 yards. He did have a 6-yard touchdown for the 14-0 lead in the first quarter. Ashton Bethel-Roman had two grabs for 61 yards, including a 58-yarder and a pair of scores. And Concepcion did break a 39-yard punt return.

How complete was the win? Samford managed only three first downs for the entire game. The Bulldogs were 0-for-14 on third-down conversions and finished with just 77 total yards. And that was with the Aggies losing a couple of turnovers. A&M finished with 475 yards of offense, balanced between the passing game (228) and rushing game (247).
