‘Blessing to help people going through the struggle,’ Texans’ Tim Settle Jr. helps families at Thanksgiving event

  • November 23, 2025

HOUSTON – Growing up in Virginia, Texans defensive tackle Tim Settle Jr. and his family experienced tough times.

That’s why it resonated strongly with him to give back Saturday at the Steven Radack Community Center.

Settle helped distribute a week of meals to 100 Houston area families in advance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

“It’s all about giving back,” Settle told KPRC 2. “Growing up in a little poverty, growing up with a little adversity, I feel like this kind of stuff makes players, when they get later in their life, you look back on the struggle, and it’s a blessing to overcome it. It’s also a blessing to help people that’s going through the struggle as well, so that’s just the biggest message.”

Settle was joined by his father, Tim Sr., his son, Tim, and representatives from his agency, including executive Emanuel Drakes and Madi Wingert.

“Tim is dedicated both on and off the field,” said Drakes, who works closely with Andy Ross, Settle’s agent. “But his true focus is making a meaningful impact in his community and we support his efforts 100 percent.”

Settle was overjoyed to see all of the smiles on people’s faces.

“It was amazing,” Settle said. “Not only was you getting the turkey, but you was getting food for the week. I feel like we was able to help a lot of people today,(0:55)and I feel like we was able to contribute, and this was a successful event today, and I’m so happy.”

Settle held his son ‘Baby Tim,’ in his arms and called him the ‘Next Phenom.

“He’s going to be a superstar: Class of 2035,” Settle said.

His favorite Thanksgiving dishes: “I like sweet potatoes, and I like macaroni. I mix them together, and I eat it with some chicken or some turkey. That’s all I really care to eat on Thanksgiving.”
