An investigation is underway after a child made outcries accusing his pediatrician of sexual assault. San Antonio police have taken the doctor into custody in connection with the case.
On Friday, SAPD booked 50-year-old Gabriel Perez for aggravated sexual assault of a child, according to a preliminary report.
Police say the assault happened in July 2022 at the 9700 block of Culebra during the boy’s annual checkup. The child was between 5 and 6 years old at the time of the incident.

According to the report, Perez asked the boy’s mother to leave the exam room. After she stepped out, he allegedly assaulted the child.
Detectives investigated the allegation and determined they had enough evidence to make an arrest. Perez was taken into custody at his home without incident.
Police did not release the name of the medical practice where Perez worked.
Investigators believe there may be additional victims. Anyone with information is urged to contact SAPD’s Special Victims Unit.
