Dallas-based food critic and social media star Keith Lee headlined this year’s 18th Annual Thanksgiving Giveaway, joining Minnie’s Food Pantry on Nov. 22 at Red Tail Pavilion in Plano.

Lee, whose TikTok restaurant reviews routinely send fans lining up around the block, has become a major presence in North Texas since relocating with his family in late 2024. Now, he’s using that influence to help feed thousands of local families.

As part of his national “A Familee That SNAPS Back” challenge, Lee donated $12,000 worth of turkeys and supported distribution efforts on-site. His goal: to amplify the reach of one of Minnie’s Food Pantry’s most critical events during a year when many households are still recovering from the recent government shutdown and temporary halt in SNAP benefits.

More than 4,200 families registered to receive a turkey and a complete holiday meal. Although SNAP assistance has since been restored, many North Texans are still rebuilding, making this year’s giveaway more essential than ever.

A Community Rallying Together

Founder Dr. Cheryl “Action” Jackson emphasized that the Thanksgiving Giveaway represents far more than a holiday meal. To her, the event is a crucial lifeline for the thousands of families who depend on Minnie’s Food Pantry during one of the toughest times of the year. She noted that each box reflects a community built on courage, resilience and hope, and that the commitment of volunteers and supporters transforms fear into faith and scarcity into possibility.

“This giveaway is a testament to what we can accomplish when we come together with compassion and a shared sense of responsibility for one another,” Jackson said in an official statement. “We are grateful to serve, and more determined than ever to ensure that no family faces Thanksgiving — or any day — without access to nourishing food.”

This year’s event reflects one of the largest coordinated volunteer efforts in the organization’s history. Minnie’s Food Pantry highlighted the 818 volunteers who spent the last two weeks preparing holiday boxes for every registered family. Major sponsors also helped drive the effort: USAA, 7-Eleven, the Dallas Stars, Cawley Partners, H-E-B, Barcel USA, the city of Plano, Malin and Cigna.

Several local partners also pitched in to support both families and volunteers. Emerald City Band brought a live performance to energize the crowd throughout the day. Dillas Quesadillas and Dunkin’ Donuts provided food, drinks and treats to keep volunteers fueled. Flex Etc. offered essential storage space, allowing the team to organize thousands of meals in the weeks leading up to the event.

Keith Lee’s North Texas Impact

Lee, now a familiar face to North Texas food lovers, has helped spotlight everything from pizza to barbecue since arriving in the region. His reviews have helped introduce his millions of followers to local favorites. Before becoming a food critic, Lee was a professional wrestler, an unexpected path that has since led to national recognition for his community-focused approach to content.

By joining Minnie’s Thanksgiving Giveaway, he brings that same community-driven ethos to Plano, helping ensure even more families receive a holiday meal and a bit of hope heading into the season.

A Day of Hope And Celebration

With thousands in attendance, the 18th Annual Thanksgiving Giveaway was more than a food distribution. Minnie’s Food Pantry welcomed families, with partners and volunteers like Keith Lee working together to ensure no family faced the holiday season without nourishment and support.
