A years-long investigation and digital trail helped Arlington police solve the 2021 murder of Kier Solomon, who was found shot in a parked car.

ARLINGTON, Texas — Arlington police have arrested a suspect in connection with the 2021 shooting death of Kier Solomon, a transgender woman found fatally wounded in a vehicle at an apartment complex.

Police said in a news release that detectives obtained a warrant for 25-year-old Arthur Morris Jr., who is currently serving a seven-year prison sentence with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for an unrelated aggravated robbery conviction.

The case dates back to Sept. 30, 2021, when officers responded around 9:30 p.m. to a North Arlington apartment complex in the 1100 block of Stonetrail Road after a report of a person slumped over inside a running car. Officers discovered 21-year-old Solomon suffering from gunshot wounds. She was taken to a local hospital, where she later died.

Investigators found Solomon’s phone in the car and learned she had been messaging with an unknown person through an app about a meeting at the location. The number used to contact her was a temporary one generated by the app, Arlington PD said.

Detectives later uncovered a similar incident that occurred two weeks earlier at the same location. In that case, a suspect arranged a meeting through the same app, then robbed another victim, displayed a gun, and fired a shot at the victim’s car. Investigators eventually identified Morris as the suspect in that earlier incident, making him a person of interest in Solomon’s killing.

A major break came in September 2025, when detectives executed several search warrants tied to the app account. Police said the warrants revealed an email address and cell phone number that were linked directly to Morris. Cell phone records placed him at the scene before, during and after Solomon’s death, according to Arlington PD.

After consulting with the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office, police charged Morris with murder in Solomon’s case and aggravated robbery for the earlier incident.

“This investigation truly highlights the persistence and dedication of our detectives,” said Arlington Police Chief Al Jones. “Sometimes we get that big break in a case right away, and other times we don’t. What never changes, though, is our commitment to delivering justice for victims of crime and exhausting every possible lead to achieve that goal.”

Morris remains in custody at a TDCJ facility in Childress, Texas, and will be transferred to Tarrant County for arraignment.

Police identified the victim as Kier Solomon in a Wednesday news release, though WFAA’s previous reporting referred to her by the name Kier Kartier.
