Walker, a Lampasas native who moved to Georgetown prior to his junior season, becomes the second running back in the 2026 class. Originally pledged to Minnesota, Walker joins four-star recruit Derrek Cooper of South Florida as the backfield pledges in the current recruiting cycle.

Texas currently has the ninth-ranked class in the nation, per 247Sports’ team rankings. But head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns have a history of closing strong. This past weekend’s home game against Arkansas featured a handful of prominent recruiting visits besides Walker, including LSU offensive tackle commit Brysten Martinez, Stanford interior offensive line commit Kaden Scherer, UCLA athlete commit Toray Davis, five-star defensive tackle Richard Anderson and former Oklahoma State cornerback commit Josiah Vilmael.

The 6-foot-2, 215-pound Walker is a three-star recruit by 247Sports who ranks as the No. 46 running back in the nation. But his productivity and underrated speed — he reportedly has a verified 40-yard dash time of 4.55 seconds — makes him a late recruiting bloomer. In four varsity seasons with Lampasas High School and Georgetown, Walker ran for 5,846 yards and 84 touchdowns while averaging 9.1 yards per carry. This past season, he rushed for 1,486 yards and 24 touchdowns in 11 games for a Georgetown squad that was knocked out of the Class 5A Division I playoffs Friday in a second-round game against Frisco Lone Star.
