Multiple homes are damaged after a tornado touched down near Houston, Texas Monday afternoon, officials said.
Mark Herman, Harris County Constable for Precinct Four, said deputies are responding to the Memorial Northwest neighborhoods of Spring, Texas after a tornado touched down.
“Multiple homes have been struck and sustained significant damage,” Herman said in a post on Facebook, adding, “Calls are actively coming in from residents reporting property damage throughout the area.”
“Please avoid the area, keep roadways clear for first responders, and stay indoors until the severe weather threat has passed,” Herman concluded.
Spring is a suburb about 26 miles north of Houston.

Why It Matters
Tornadoes present a significant threat to public safety and infrastructure, particularly in densely populated metro areas like Houston.
The event highlights the ongoing risks associated with severe storm systems in Texas and underscored the importance of alert systems and rapid response protocols during hazardous weather events.
What To Know
Several homes were damaged in Harris County, Texas Monday afternoon when a tornado touched down, officials said.
The tornado tore down trees and power lines, prompting road closures and creating power outages.
There were no immediate reports of injuries, but crews are actively responding to several calls in the area of Memorial Northwest, Herman said.

The video came amid several Tornado Warnings and a Tornado Watch in the area issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Monday afternoon.
“Weather spotters reported a funnel cloud,” the warning issued by the Houston/Galveston NWS office said, adding that people should watch out for flying debris and hail.
The areas under warning include Harris and Montgomery as well as The Woodlands, Spring, Oak Ridge North, Shenandoah, Hurricane Harbor Splashtown, and The Woodlands Pavillion, according to the NWS.
Where Was The Tornado Warning Issued?
The NWS Houston/Galveston issued tornado warnings for Harris County and Montgomery County, including communities such as The Woodlands, Spring, Oak Ridge North, Shenandoah, Chateau Woods, and Porter Heights. The warnings, which specified windows from approximately 1:38 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. CST, were based on weather spotter reports of funnel clouds over areas including Willowbrook, Jersey Village, and Hooks Airport.
The alert warned of hazards including damaging tornadoes, hail, and flying debris, and urged residents to seek shelter immediately.
Tornado Warning Vs. Tornado Watch: Which is More Severe?
A tornado watch is issued when conditions are favorable for tornadoes to develop; it covers a broad region and signals that severe storms are possible.
A tornado warning, which was issued in this incident, means a tornado has actually been sighted or detected by radar and poses an imminent threat. Residents under a warning are urged to take immediate shelter.
Where Do Most Tornadoes Occur?
Most tornadoes in the United States form in “Tornado Alley,” an area spanning Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, and parts of the Midwest.
However, tornadoes are possible almost anywhere strong thunderstorms occur, including other regions of Texas and the Southeast.
Are Tornadoes Common in Texas?
Texas leads the nation in the average number of tornadoes annually due to its size and geographical position, which favor the formation of severe thunderstorms.
Tornadoes can occur any time of year but are most frequent during the spring and early summer months.
What People Are Saying
Grayson Moore, eyewitness and video shooter, described the scene: “Lots of lightning strikes around the office and saw wind pickup and windows buckled with a pressure drop. This was originally what we saw right above us before I got the video you saw. Also sorry for the language didn’t think I’d be posting this haha.” [Direct statement by Grayson Moore, Nov 24, 2025]
Mark Herman, Constable for Harris County Precinct 4, said in a post on Facebook: “Constable Deputies are actively working to clear dangerous debris, assist stranded motorists, check on impacted neighborhoods, and support partner agencies as recovery efforts continue.”
What Happens Next
Residents and emergency personnel continued to assess damage in affected neighborhoods, particularly northwest Harris County, where several homes were reported damaged.
People should “avoid travel if possible, treat all downed power lines as live, and report hazardous conditions immediately,” Herman said in a post to Facebook.
Officials urged vigilance as additional severe weather remained possible, and flight operations at Bush Intercontinental Airport were expected to resume as conditions improved.
