TYLER, Texas (KETK) — Houston’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, one of the oldest in the country, will celebrate its 76th year with a special performance by the Tyler Junior College Apache Belles.

The Apache Belles, known for their high-energy routines, have been practicing a high-kick performance all season, which they will showcase as they march through downtown Houston.

“It is a really neat experience getting to prepare to perform in this parade,” Ashley Blair, a freshman Apache Belle, said.”Being from Houston, it’s been such a big part of my life and so it’s just such a full circle moment getting to go there and perform with my team that I love so much.”

The Apache Belles will march along a parade route that spans more than 20 city blocks, culminating in a performance area in front of the grandstands.

The dancers have been perfecting their routine, which is a different challenge compared to their usual performances on football fields.

The Apache Belles are set to depart for Houston early Wednesday morning, ready to bring their high kick routine to one of the state’s most historic parades.
