‘Happy to see how joyful they are,’ Texans provide 1,000 Thanksgiving meals to Houston families

  • November 26, 2025

HOUSTON – A long procession of cars were greeted by Texans players that included quarterback C.J. Stroud and star defensive ends Will Anderson Jr. and Danielle Hunter, along with Cal McNair and Hannah McNair.

It was a day of giving back at NRG Stadium. As the cars pulled up, the Texans’ players personally handed out turkeys, pecan pies and more in advance of the holiday.

The Texans held their annual Thanksgiving Turkey Time event, providing 1,000 meals to Houston families in need in partnership with Kroger.

“Just giving back to the community, this city gives a lot to this team,” Texans defensive tackle Tim Settle Jr. said. “I feel like it’s the best thing to do is give back to the city. Every car, we wish them happy Thanksgiving.”

“Happy to see how joyful they are and seeing us out here giving the tribute. Thanksgiving, I feel like it’s one of those days you talk about memories.”

Added wide receiver Xavier Hutchinson: “It’s a great feeling to come out here and impact the city of Houston, who has given us so much. Really just trying to make a difference in the community.’

There were several players at NRG Stadium, distributing meals, including Stroud, Anderson, Hunter, Settle, Hutchinson, Tommy Togiai, Mario Edwards Jr., Junior Tafuna, E.J. Speed, Calen Bullock, Haggai Ndubuisi, Azeez Al-Shaair, Blake Fisher, Henry To’oTo’o, Jackson Woodard, Quintez Cephus, Austin Brinkman, Myles Bryant, Ka’imi Fairbairn, Ed Ingram and Josh Kelly.

“I feel like this is good, a successful Thanksgiving,” said Settle, whose team has a big AFC South game against the Indianapolis Colts on the road Sunday. “Kind of goes into the weekend, having a good Thanksgiving, leading to a good weekend and leading to a win this weekend.

“It just shows the kind of chemistry and unity that we have. We’re a tight team. We love each other. We’re really close. It’s amazing to be out here and unify outside the locker room.”
