We have many things to be thankful for, and you are right at the top of that list.
First and foremost, thank you for reading this. That simple act matters more than you might realize. Connection has always been at the heart of what we do — whether it’s on the air, online, or face-to-face out in the community. Being part of the FMX rock family is different, because we come at things from a different place. Rock fans, regardless of age, have always been a little outside the lines — and doing that while rocking the Bible Belt makes that bond even stronger.
A Different Frequency, Since Day One
On January 18th, we’ll celebrate 45 years of FMX. That’s one heck of a run by any definition. And honestly, if you’d asked someone in 1981 whether launching a rock station in Lubbock, Texas was a smart idea, the safe answer would have been “probably not.” Back then, Lubbock was deeply country — not just in music taste, but in its entire way of life.

Fortunately, FMX found its people. Better yet, it found you. And somehow along the way, I got to be part of it from the beginning, watching this thing grow into something bigger than we ever imagined.
Four Decades of Shows, Sweat, and Soundtracks in Lubbock
We’ve shared over forty years of concerts and events together. Yes, live shows feel fewer these days — but that’s a national trend, not just a local one. When you start with a smaller pool of opportunities, it can taper off fast. We’re doing what we can to change that, even as major markets soak up talent in the name of “optimized profits.” That cycle won’t last forever, though. Bands eventually realize that real connection still lives in places like Lubbock — and they always find their way back.
Still Rocking Together, Every Single Day
Despite everything changing around us, one thing remains: we still meet you every day through a microphone. In a world full of distractions, your continued choice to rock with FMX means more than we can properly thank you for. We’ve spent a lifetime together already — and we wouldn’t want to spend it with anyone else.
P.S. Don’t miss Second Helpings Weekend, starting tomorrow. You’ll hear songs you don’t hear often, and it’s going to be a blast. And be sure you’re with us Monday for code words that could send you all the way to London with Daughtry.
Thank you for being here. Always.
