Two flavors from Local Creamery received national recognition.

PLANO, Texas — A family-owned Plano ice cream shop is earning national attention after taking home two major honors from the North American Ice Cream Association’s national convention.

Local Creamery won Blue Ribbons for its Vanilla and Strawberry ice creams — and its Strawberry flavor earned the highest score in the nation at this year’s competition.

The convention, held this year in West Palm Beach, FL., drew record-breaking crowds and is considered the most respected industry event in North America. The Blue Ribbon entries are evaluated on flavor, texture, appearance and overall quality.

“We are incredibly honored to receive this recognition from the North American Ice Cream Association,” owner Brooke Bauer said. “Our Vanilla and Strawberry are classic flavors that we pour a lot of love and attention into. To have them judged among the best in the nation means the world to our team.”

Local Creamery’s Vanilla is made with premium cream and hand-selected vanilla for what the shop describes as a smooth and balanced flavor. Its Strawberry flavor is made with ripe berries to create what it calls a “bright, refreshing, and authentically fruity taste.”

“These ribbons are a testament not just to our recipes, but to the dedication of our entire staff,” added Lane Bauer. “We strive to make and provide the highest quality ice cream and are excited to share these award-winning flavors with our community.”

The Plano shop, which opened in 2022, specializes in small-batch ice cream made with all-natural, dye-free ingredients, including dairy-free and allergy-friendly options. The award-winning Vanilla and Strawberry are regularly available in-store, along with signature flavors and rotating monthly specials.

Ohio-based Jubie’s Creamery took home “Flavor of the Year” for Hot Honeycomb, a flavor featuring Tasty Bacon’s food truck Millionaire’s Glaze, hot honey and honeycomb chips.

Local Creamery is located at 5805 Preston Road, Suite 598, at the southwest corner of Spring Creek Parkway and Preston Road.

The shop’s Blue Ribbon wins mark another national spotlight moment for a growing number of North Texas businesses earning recognition.  Earlier this month, Dallas’ Starship Bagel took home first place at New York BagelFest.
