Garland ISD trustees recognized student achievements, honored award-winning staff and received several department updates during the board’s Tuesday, Nov. 18 meeting.
The evening opened with the district spotlighting two students selected for publication in the 2025 iWrite Short Stories by Kids for Kids anthology. The international contest highlights young authors and illustrators from around the world.
North Garland High School sophomore Mia Andrea was honored for her poem, “She Is My Hero,” which will appear in the 16th volume of the anthology. Trustees also recognized Class of 2025 graduate Sierra Thompson, whose poem, “The Boy’s Superheroes,” was also selected.
