BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) – With Bismarck State now participating at the NAIA level, the Mystics are now grabbing transfers from United Tribes, its former rival school. Houston Davis played two years with the Thunderbirds and joined the BSC ranks— only, he didn’t come alone.
The Davis brothers are together again on the court
“It just works,” said Tristin Davis.
Bismarck State jumping up to the four-year level created a new chance for Houston and Tristan. They hadn’t shared the court since their high school days at Turtle Mountain.
“Every time we step on the floor, we just have a great connection,” said Tristin. “It’s a great feeling to be able to play alongside him. I got an opportunity here to play right next to him.”
“It’s fun, you can’t even explain it because we just know where each other are going to be on the court and we just have that chemistry and we’re trying to get that with the other guys too,” said Houston Davis.
Houston played two years at United Tribes. The thousand-point JUCO scorer got recruited by multiple schools, but one coach stayed persistent. BSC head coach Kevin Rice invited both Houston and Tristin to an open gym.
“He asked us to come and play in a scrimmage and stuff. He liked it too, the way we played together. It was nice,” said Houston.
And the Mystics landed both brothers.
“Maybe I could try to walk on wherever he tries to go. He decided to stay in Bismarck, and I was like, ‘You can help me get on the team, maybe,’” said Tristin.
“I’m glad I made the decision, and I’m happy to be here,” said Houston.
Six games into the new season, Houston leads the Mystics in points per game. Tristan is third. The brothers are both in the top three on the team in assists.
