LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – A Lubbock businessman who announced earlier this month his candidacy for the congressional seat being vacated by Rep. Jodey Arrington discussed his campaign plans in an exclusive interview.
Tom Sell is running to represent the district and wants to take his years of political experience back to Washington. Arrington will not seek re-election next year.
Sell worked under former Congressman Larry Combest, including on major agricultural legislation.
“Cotton has particular challenges we gotta get through and start building and investing infrastructure to get to a better place for the cotton producers around this area, as well as other agricultural producers,” Sell said. “I think that experience and advocacy on behalf of agriculture in Washington D.C. is really going to serve well, and it’s a microcosm of the other industries that are so important in West Texas.”
Grassroots activist Abraham Enriquez is also running for the Republican nomination. Lubbock County Commissioner Jason Corley is exploring his options.
Kyle Rable is seeking the Democratic nomination.
The filing deadline is Dec. 8. The primaries are in March.
